The Cleveland Guardians' carousel of roster moves over the last few weeks continued after their game with the Los Angeles Dodgers which lasted almost 20 hours.
They finished up the game from Wednesday night on Thursday afternoon before their regular scheduled game. However, they made a couple of changes mid-game.
Cam Gallagher went to the injured list last week with a concussion. The team activated him off that last which means they needed to open up a roster spot.
In order to make room for Gallagher, the team optioned Brayan Rocchio to Triple-A Columbus.
Rocchio had a hot start when he was called up to the Big League club on August 2. However, he's cooled off since then only hitting .192 over his last seven games. This is only complicated by the log jam of middle infielders such as Gabriel Arias and Tyler Freeman.
There is a chance this is just a procedural move and we see Rocchio back up with the team shortly. Cleveland currently has three catchers on the roster with them recently picking up Eric Haase off waivers. It's hard to envision the team rolling with three backstops too much longer.
