Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Inactives for Week 18 matchup

The Carolina Panthers (2-14) have released their list of inactives for Sunday’s Week 18 home contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-8).

Kicker Eddy Pineiro is the most notable inactive, sidelined for the season finale with a hamstring injury. Pineiro’s hamstring tightened up during warmups last week, which led linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill to kickoff. With Carolina shutout 26-0 by the Jacksonville Jaguars (9-7), the team never needed punter Johnny Hekker for field goals and extra point attempts. With Pineiro out, Matthew Wright, elevated from the practice squad, will serve as the kicker versus Tampa Bay. Wright is 40-of-46 (87%) on field goals in his career.

Linebacker Marquis Haynes is also inactive. Haynes, 30, didn’t travel back with the team Sunday after suffering a concussion during the third quarter of the loss to the Jaguars. He stayed at the Baptist Medical Center for observation before being discharged Monday afternoon.

Haynes, making just his seventh appearance this season, was unable to return to his feet after suffering the concussion and had to be carted off the field. Haynes has dealt with injuries all season, spending time on injured reserve with a back injury. The sixth-year pro has tallied 16 tackles (13 solo), three tackles for loss and one sack this season.

The Panthers have a chance to play spoiler against a Buccaneers squad looking to clinch a playoff berth in the NFC. If the Buccaneers win, they will be crowned NFC South champions. A Panthers win, however, and Tampa Bay will be eliminated from playoff contention.
