NFL Insider Reveals Bombshell Details On Broncos’ QB Situation
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos released Russell Wilson earlier this offseason, meaning that Jarrett Stidham is currently in line to be the team’s starting quarterback heading into 2024.

It’s hard to envision the Broncos sticking with Stidham, and an AFC executive feels the same way.

“No way Sean [Payton] goes into the year with that quarterback room,” the executive said, via Jordan Reid of ESPN.

Many are expecting Denver to take a signal-caller in the NFL Draft later this month. The question is, how will the Broncos go about that process?

Denver owns the 12th overall pick, so in order for it to land one of the top quarterback prospects, it will have to trade up. The problem is, the Broncos don’t own a second-rounder, so unless they part with future picks, it will be almost impossible for them to move into the top five.

Reid notes that Denver could always take Oregon’s Bo Nix at No. 12, but some feel that would be a case of overdrafting. If the Broncos also share that line of thinking, they could trade a back a bit in the first round and potentially still nab Nix while also having more picks at their disposal to fill out the rest of the roster.

Nix is one of the more intriguing prospects of this year’s draft class.

While he may not have the cachet of a Caleb Williams or a Jayden Daniels, he did post fantastic numbers in 2023, throwing for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 77.4 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 234 yards and six scores.

As a matter of fact, of all of the quarterbacks in the draft, Nix’s numbers are the most impressive.

He also has great size, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing in the neighborhood of 215 pounds.

We’ll see what the Broncos decide to do under center in the coming weeks.
