Panthers hire Dan Morgan as assistant general manager

Dan Morgan is back with the team that made him a first-round pick 20 years ago.

The Carolina Panthers announced Saturday that Morgan has been named the franchise's assistant general manager. It is the first significant hire for new general manager Scott Fitterer.

Morgan comes over from the Buffalo Bills, where he served as director of player personnel from 2018-2020. He began his career as a scouting intern for the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 and also served as the franchise's assistant director of pro personnel and director of pro personnel.

In seven seasons with the Panthers, Morgan appeared in one Pro Bowl and recorded seven sacks, five interceptions, three forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 390 tackles and 18 tackles for a loss.

The next step for the 42-year-old will be to become a general manager for an NFL club.
